In a span of 12 hours from Monday to early Tuesday, at least 11 individuals were shot, with one of them being fatally wounded. This marks one of the most severe incidents of gun violence in New York City during the summer season. The report was confirmed by 1010 WINS and WCBS 880.
Between 4 p.m. on Monday and 4 a.m. on Tuesday, Brooklyn saw seven victims, while the Bronx had three and Manhattan had one.
In the Tremont section of the Bronx, a tragic incident occurred when a 39-year-old man was shot multiple times in the head at the intersection of East 176th Street and Mohegan Avenue around 8 p.m. The fatal shooting has left the community shaken and authorities are currently investigating the incident.
Roman Martinez, a resident of the Bronx, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. No arrests have been made in connection to his murder.
Around 7:30 p.m., two women were injured in a drive-by shooting in the Bronx. The incident took place at East 165th Street and Third Avenue in Morrisania, with the victims being a 29-year-old and a 28-year-old. Fortunately, the police were able to apprehend two suspects in connection with the incident.
In Flatbush, Brooklyn, a young man of 21 years old was shot in the hand on Crooke Avenue, located just south of Prospect Park, before 1 a.m. Fortunately, he was quickly transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County and is now in stable condition. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
Around 1:15 a.m. in Brownsville, two men aged 64 and 35 were shot at Osborn Street and Sutter Avenue. They were immediately taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center where they are currently in stable condition. Unfortunately, the shooter managed to escape and is still at large.
Around 1:40 a.m., in Crown Heights at Lincoln Place and Rochester Avenue, a 43-year-old woman was shot twice in her right leg. She is currently recovering at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. The shooter fled the scene.
Earlier on Monday, a triple shooting occurred at Rutland Road and Nostrand Avenue in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, leaving two men and a 16-year-old boy wounded. The 16-year-old boy was critically injured, while the two men, aged 26 and 16 respectively, were in stable condition. As of now, there have been no reports of any arrests made in connection with the shooting.
In East Harlem’s East 96th Street, gun violence made its presence known as a 24-year-old man was shot in the neck around 3:15 a.m. The victim managed to walk into NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan for treatment, but his injury prevented him from speaking to the investigators.
