10,000 eligible employees in Mississippi to receive new bonuses from Walmart

In Mississippi, Walmart is reaffirming its dedication to becoming the ultimate destination for both shopping and employment. The company is determined to not only provide top-quality products but also foster a supportive and fulfilling work environment for its employees.

The eligible full- and part-time hourly associates in stores are in for a treat as the company has recently made an announcement regarding a new annual bonus program. The program is said to benefit approximately 10,000 hourly store associates in Mississippi who qualify for this bonus.

In the last five years, the retail giant has made a conscious effort to increase hourly wages by approximately 30%, which has resulted in the average hourly wage in the United States reaching almost $18. The company has also made substantial investments in healthcare, family benefits, and long-term financial security for its workforce, indicating its all-encompassing approach to promoting the well-being of its employees.

Walmart is taking a major step to tackle the shortage of skilled trade workers across the nation with the launch of its Associate to Technician pipeline program. The program aims to train hourly store and supply chain workers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for positions in facilities maintenance, refrigeration and HVAC, reliability, and automation. This initiative is set to begin with 100 associates. These roles offer excellent wages that range from $19 to $45 per hour, providing a significant opportunity for career growth.

Walmart is taking steps to enhance its Live Better U program by increasing the number of certificates available. This initiative, which is paid for by Walmart, offers new education options that can be completed in just four months, rather than the traditional college degree timeline. The program aims to help employees advance in their careers and secure higher-paying and in-demand jobs in leadership positions, pharmacy technology, optometry, software engineering, and others. Over the next three years, the company hopes to fast-track around 100,000 employees into these roles.

During Associates Week in Northwest Arkansas, Walmart unveiled a new bonus structure for their hourly store associates. This bonus plan is designed to reward exceptional work and customer service, with the potential for employees to earn up to $1,000 annually. The longer an employee stays with the company, the higher their potential earnings will be.

In addition, Walmart has upgraded its Me@Walmart app by introducing a convenient Total Pay and Benefits feature which enables employees to effortlessly view their pay, benefits, discounts, and learning opportunities. The objective of this tool is to streamline the work process and enhance the employees’ quality of life.

Walmart’s commitment to its people-focused strategy is reflected in the initiatives it takes. The company firmly believes in its associates’ potential and echoes the founder’s sentiment, Sam Walton, who said, “There’s absolutely no limit to what ordinary people can accomplish if they’re given the opportunity and encouragement to do their best.” By investing in its employees’ growth and well-being, Walmart is dedicated to creating a supportive and empowering workplace.
