In an Instagram post, he shared with his followers that his wife, Hayley, experienced disorientation after their recent show in Washington, D.C. As a result, she was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with a cranial hematoma caused by a burst blood vessel. The medical team performed an emergency craniectomy, and currently, she is in stable condition.
Derek expressed his gratitude to the first responders and medical personnel who have been providing care for his loved one. He also requested prayers and positive thoughts during this challenging period.

Derek and Hayley embarked on their Symphony of Dance tour, which began in September. They exchanged vows a few weeks prior to the start of their tour, specifically on August 26th.
The status of the upcoming tour dates remains unknown in light of Hayley’s health scare. This incident occurred after the conclusion of the latest season of DWTS, where Derek spoke highly of Xochitl’s performance, stating that the late judge Len Goodman, who sadly passed away after 15 years on the show, would have greatly appreciated her talent.

In the earlier round, the couple delivered an energetic Jive routine to the iconic tune “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins. It’s worth noting that perfect scores are not easily given on the show, making their accomplishment even more remarkable.
