Victims of a shooting and ambush at an Alabama emergency room have been identified as police search for the shooter

When victims of a shooting at an Alabama nightclub arrived at a neighboring hospital for treatment, they were also ducking bullets.

Gunmen opened fire on the Aria Restaurant and Lounge early Monday, killing Markiezia Atkins, 24, and injuring three others, according to Al.com.

Two gunmen opened fire on the two women and an unnamed wounded man as they arrived in a private vehicle at the University of Alabama-Birmingham Hospital following the incident, but no one was hit.

According to the report, Atkins and Willis were declared deceased upon reaching the hospital.

According to reports, the man who was attacked is currently in critical condition. However, there is some positive news as the two women who were also injured are expected to survive.

According to police officer Truman Fitzgerald, the restaurant was the intended target of the attack and it seems that the victims were innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire.

Expressing his dismay, Birmingham Police Chief Scott Thurmond denounced the violent acts.

In a statement, he expressed his grief over the loss of two innocent lives to yet another senseless act of violence in the city. He stated that the victims, who were both females, were most likely innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire. It is truly disheartening to see such tragedies happening in our community.

Thurmond expressed his sorrow over the tragic incident that led to the untimely deaths of two women and the devastating impact it had on their families. He also acknowledged the lasting physical and emotional scars that the three other victims will have to endure due to the senseless violence that occurred. It is a heartbreaking situation that has left a profound impact on all those affected by it.
