A task force has been formed with the aim of reducing violent crimes in cities across the state. The task force is hopeful that it will be able to create a positive impact and build momentum in this regard. Montgomery, Alabama, is where the task force has been established.
The unit responsible for suppressing crime in the metropolitan area is known as the Metro Area Crime Suppression Unit, which is commonly referred to as MACS.
Sheriff Derrick Cunningham of Montgomery County issued a stern warning on Thursday, stating, “If we don’t catch you now, we will catch you later.”
In addition, he emphasized that the creation of the task force sends a clear message to individuals who aim to disrupt the community.
Cunningham confidently declared, “We have a target, and we’re coming for you. Being a part of this MACS program is greatly appreciated.”
The Montgomery County sheriff and Montgomery police chief have enlisted the assistance of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in the task force.
Since beginning their training on June 24, the task force has successfully made 49 arrests. Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall expressed his hope that this unit will serve as a model for other communities.
Marshall expressed his optimism about the success achieved by coming together and working collaboratively. He believes that this model can be replicated in other places as well. The key is to have different partners with varying roles working towards a common goal. By deploying law enforcement resources into areas facing crime-related issues, it becomes possible to make a significant difference.
According to Hal Taylor, Secretary of ALEA, the task force emphasizes the importance of teamwork in providing service.
Marshall emphasized the importance of training together as it enables each person to know the other’s actions. He added that having backup during work is a massive advantage, especially when they are aware of each other’s training.
Marshall urged city residents to take responsibility for their communities.

Furthermore, it is essential to guarantee that our kids attend school and receive an education. The individuals standing behind Marshall are ready to take action, but they need the support of the community to tackle these issues effectively.
The unit has not only arrested 49 individuals but has also conducted 413 traffic stops and retrieved five suspected stolen vehicles.
