MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Rep. Terri Sewell, D-7th District, secured $21 million for improving Alabama’s military installations in the 2023 federal budget.
On Thursday, Sewell, while traversing the district, visited the 187th Fighter Wing Air National Guard and Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery. During her visit, she proudly made two announcements, accompanied by sizable ceremonial checks, to celebrate the successful acquisition of funding.
At the 187th Fighter Wing Air National Guard Base, the F-35 Weapons Load Crew Training Facility will receive $6.8 million in funding.
Maxwell Air Force Base will get another $15 million to upgrade its Commercial Vehicle Inspection Gate, which is critical for agencies like the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which uses MAFB as a regional staging hub for natural disaster supplies.
In her new budget, Sewell secured more than $42 million for community projects in her district.
