Identification of Tree Trimmer Killed in Hit-and-Run Incident at I-495 Work Zone in Montgomery County by Police

Mocobizscene- Eric Lewis, a 57-year-old man, tragically lost his life in Montgomery County on Wednesday morning. State police investigators suspect that he was struck by a Freightliner truck, which was carrying a flatbed with a forklift. The incident occurred at the scene, and unfortunately, Eric Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:15 a.m. on December 13th on I-495 near Georgia Avenue. During the initial investigation, it was determined that Lewis, a mobile tree trimming operation crew member, was working on the shoulder of the interstate when a truck struck him in the eastbound lanes. Shockingly, the driver did not stop and continued on their way.

According to the police, the truck involved in the incident lacked a right front headlight. However, investigators have not provided any further details about the vehicle or the driver.

Officials stated that charges are pending. The investigation in Silver Spring caused traffic congestion on the interstate. The authorities have not disclosed any details about the victim.
