Hotel in Montgomery Burns Down Overnight; Two Individuals Rescued Safely

Early Saturday morning, a two-story hotel on W. South Boulevard in Montgomery caught fire. Fortunately, Montgomery fire and rescue units were quick to respond to the scene and were able to save two individuals who were trapped on the second floor. Thanks to their swift actions, the fire was successfully contained, and no injuries were reported. Given the size of the blaze, officials elevated the situation to a second-alarm fire, which was later upgraded to a three-alarm fire, calling for additional units at the scene.

Firefighters battled the blaze that broke out at around 1 a.m. by utilizing aerial ladder streams and large hoses strategically placed at the corners of the building. Despite their efforts, the fire engulfed the hotel, reducing it to rubble and debris.

Assistant Fire Chief Stanley Cooper has confirmed that the hotel was vacant at the time of the fire, resulting in a complete loss of the building. Currently, investigators are working diligently to determine the cause of the fire. It is worth mentioning that the Montgomery Fire/Rescue crews promptly responded to the incident and took effective measures to control the fire, which deserves appreciation.
