Electronic construction sign board Hacked and Racist texts Displayed in Maryland; MCPD On Alert

Per MCPD: Officers from the 4th District station in Montgomery County reacted to a hate crime involving an electronic sign board in a construction zone. On July 8, 2023, at about 6:47 a.m., several people called the Montgomery County Emergency Communications Center to say that a sign near Brookeville Road and George Avenue in Brookeville had a racist message on it.

When the patrol officers got there, they saw that the signboard, which was meant to show safety messages for the building, had been broken into. Officers were able to get rid of the message and set up for the sign to be taken down.
