According to the DA, Montgomery Pair Uses Libel Threats to Extort Thousands from Business Owner.

On Tuesday, June 4, the White Collar Crime Task Force of Orange County arrested Ally Thueson, 32, and Elizabeth Sloanhoffer, 33, both residents of Montgomery. The two were charged with grand larceny and coercion.

Prosecutors claim that Thueson and Sloanhoffer used threats to coerce Thueson’s employer into paying them $9,000. The duo allegedly threatened to publish fake information about the employer online, putting the company’s reputation at risk. As a result, the employer paid the demanded amount to prevent any harm to their business.

Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler revealed that many businesses do not report extortion cases.

“The Task Force’s diligent efforts lead to the discovery of these crimes. The success of such investigations relies on the expertise and collaboration of the investigators who uncover and expose offenses that may have otherwise gone unnoticed.”
