HPD: On Sunday morning, a man was shot while burglarizing a house

HUNTSVILLE, Ala – According to the Huntsville Police Department, a guy was detained after being shot while stealing a home early Sunday morning.

HPD said officers responded to a home burglary report on Hewitt Street at 1:20 a.m. Sunday before being sent to 4000 University Drive for a gunshot wound victim.

According to authorities, Troy Shawntell Fletcher, 42, was burglarizing a home when he was shot.

According to HPD, Fletcher is charged with domestic violence-burglary because of his relationship with the burglary victim.

According to HPD, Fletcher was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries and will be placed in the Madison County Jail on the charge once he is freed.
