According to police reports, two women attempted to rob a department store on Long Island, and during their attempt, one of the suspects reportedly assaulted an employee who tried to intervene.
According to authorities, Alexis Zambrano Padilla and Jessenia Ramirez, both 27 years old, were caught attempting to leave the Saks OFF 5th store on Old Country Road in Garden City with a sizable bag of unpaid items at approximately 5 p.m. on Friday. The suspects were confronted by two employees outside of the store where Padilla allegedly assaulted a male worker by pushing him and scratching the right side of his face.
Afterward, a fellow employee came to assist in restraining Padilla until law enforcement arrived on the scene. Padilla and Ramirez, both charged with robbery and grand larceny, were taken into police custody. Padilla, who hails from Queens, also faced charges for criminal possession of an anti-security item, according to law enforcement officials.
