According to officials, the fire spread to cover several acres in the 2900 block of Market Street, including the aforementioned homeless camp. Fortunately, no one was injured, and no one was found in the camp.

The fire occurred in one of the busiest areas of the city, and firefighters could see a column of smoke from a distance. The Chattanooga Police Department closed the road and assisted with traffic while the fire department tackled the fire.

Unfortunately, this caused some traffic issues that the fire department had to deal with. Firefighters used every possible angle, including aerial tactics, to put out the fire. They even had to stop railroad traffic temporarily.
