Authorities in California have launched a statewide manhunt for the person or persons responsible for a brutal ambush-style shooting that resulted in the death of a third-generation Deputy Sheriff.
According to reports, Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer, who was a member of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, was shot and killed while sitting in his patrol car shortly after leaving the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station in the Antelope Valley.
An attentive and concerned citizen came across the deputy who had sustained critical injuries, despite being a seasoned officer of 8 years, and immediately dialed 9-1-1 to report the shooting.
During a press conference held at Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, Sheriff Robert Luna expressed his deep emotions and urged the public to help get the perpetrator off the streets. Deputy Clinkunbroomer was ambushed and killed, and Luna stated that the suspect poses a serious threat to public safety. The sheriff emphasized the importance of bringing the perpetrator to justice, as Deputy Clinkunbroomer did not deserve such a fate. Luna also spoke highly of the deputy, stating that he was beloved and admired by everyone who knew him.
According to Luna, Clinkunbroomer comes from a family with a long history of serving on the police force. His father and grandfather were both deputy sheriffs for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, making him the third generation to follow in their footsteps.
According to him, the Sheriff’s Department has received an overwhelming number of phone calls from various law enforcement agencies across California, all extending their assistance in tracking down the perpetrator behind the attack on the deputy, who fled the scene.
According to Luna, he is willing to receive any help that is being offered. However, he also emphasized the importance of the public’s cooperation in providing any relevant information that could aid in the situation.
Luna expressed that there is someone out there who has information that could help solve this heartbreaking loss. A family is currently grieving an unimaginable loss at the hospital. The victim was a young individual who came to work to serve the community. It’s worth noting that both his father and grandfather had also served the community. It’s clear that service runs deep in their family.
According to the Sheriff, Clinkunbroomer was considered to be the cream of the crop as a field training officer. He had transferred to the Palmdale sheriff’s station in 2018.
Luna’s voice trembled with emotion as he expressed his frustration. “It’s just not fair,” he said. “He was a true embodiment of bravery, selflessness, and an unwavering dedication to justice.”
The dedicated team of Sheriff’s homicide detectives is leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice. They are tirelessly scouring through surveillance footage and diligently following up on any leads that may lead them to the perpetrator responsible for Clinkunbroomer’s untimely death. Their unwavering commitment to solving this case is a testament to their professionalism and dedication to serving justice.
According to Luna, the victim was driving down the street when someone, for no apparent reason, shot and killed him. Luna assumes that the perpetrator may have targeted him because he was in uniform, which is sickening to her. She believes that this kind of violence is not representative of their community.
