Man whose girlfriend was killed in Brooklyn parking dispute shooting speaks out: ‘I’ve cried every single day

A deadly shooting left a Brooklyn man fighting for his life, but he survived.

For the past month, Cordel McDuffie has been grieving over the murder of his girlfriend in an ambush.

PIX11 was told by McDuffie that she has been crying every day since the incident and has not been the same.

On September 9th, I had a non-aggressive encounter with another driver at a Home Depot parking lot in Brooklyn.

Imani Sharpless sat beside him in the passenger seat.

“He recalled exchanging words before moving out of the way. He and his girlfriend did not expect to be ambushed.”

He experienced a life-altering event just five minutes later.

McDuffie felt bullets hitting him, but it happened too quickly. He saw the same guy when he looked up. He couldn’t remember the extent of his pain because he was focused on his girlfriend. The most painful part is having to relive that moment without her. McDuffie stated, “It hurts the most that she’s not here anymore.”

“He said that she passed away on the same day as his father.”

He is currently receiving both physical and mental therapy while also working towards ensuring that Quincy Davis, the suspected gunman who is 58 years old, is sentenced to life in prison. As a father of two boys, his main priority is his recovery and seeking justice for the crime committed against him.

While wearing his girlfriend’s ring as a way to hold on to the memories of their last four years together, McDuffie testified before a grand jury. The Kings County District Attorney’s office has announced that the indictment will be unsealed at a later date.

McDuffie said, “She took a large part of me with her. It will take time for me to be the person my boys need me to be.”

He left his courier job’s vehicle blood-stained and riddled with bullets that day. His friends have initiated a GoFundMe campaign to fund a new car and his medical appointments.
