Lindsay Shiver on her arrest and ordeal: “It’s been difficult.”

NASSAU, Bahamas – Lindsay Shiver, a pageant queen from Dothan, who was charged with conspiring to murder her husband, recently spoke to the New York Post about the difficulties she’s been facing since her arrest.

The 36-year-old Houston County native also mentioned that she believes her case has been blown out of proportion, but her attorney has advised her against elaborating further.

Bahamian authorities released Shiver on Wednesday after she spent nearly three weeks behind bars. She was able to post a $100,000 bond. As a condition of her release, Shiver checked in with Nassau police, and reporters were present to meet her on Friday.

Shiver’s alleged lover, 28-year-old Terrance Bethel, and Faron Newbold, 29, have also been charged in the plot.

Police believe that Newbold would have killed Robert Shiver, Lindsay’s husband, had they not uncovered the plot during a burglary investigation in the Bahamas.

The Shivers have counterclaims in a messy divorce in Thomasville, Georgia, where they shared a $2.4 million mansion until their split in the spring, according to records.

Robert, a former Auburn football player, is the vice president of an insurance company and had a brief career in professional football.

Lindsay, on the other hand, was crowned Miss Houston County in 2005 and finished as the 2nd runner-up in that year’s National Peanut Pageant.

She attended Houston Academy, an elite private school in Dothan, where she met Robert while they were both in college at Auburn. As part of her bond release, a judge has prohibited Shiver from leaving the Bahamas.
