Kansas City nonprofit founder accused of murder turns himself in, police report

According to police reports, the founder of a nonprofit organization in Kansas City, Missouri, which was established to prevent re-incarceration, surrendered himself earlier this week in connection with a murder case.

According to prosecutors, Na’im Al-Amin, aged 44, fatally shot Todd Tillman on July 14 in the 1300 block of E. 81st Terrace. As reported by KSHB, the incident resulted in a homicide investigation by the police.

According to recent news, Al-Amin has been accused of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the tragic death of Tillman. The charges against him are serious and require a thorough investigation. The details of the case are still unfolding, and we hope that justice will be served for the victim and their family.

According to a representative from the Kansas City Police Department, Al-Amin has been the subject of a search beyond the borders of KCMO, and federal agencies have joined in the effort.

According to court papers, detectives spoke with two individuals who had witnessed Al-Amin on the night of the murder during their investigation.

According to a witness, Al-Amin was introduced to Tillman recently and they have known each other for approximately five years. Additionally, the witness informed detectives that Al-Amin is the founder of the nonprofit organization, SWAGG INC.

Upon arriving at the designated spot, it appears that Al-Amin and Tillman got into some sort of altercation. According to the woman, Al-Amin was carrying a gun with a blue laser and she heard multiple gunshots during the incident.

According to reports, the woman was coerced by Al-Amin to take him to the Missouri River after they heard gunshots. It is alleged that he disposed of the firearm and phone there.

After being presented with a lineup of photos, the witness was able to positively identify Al-Amin as the shooter.

Al-Amin’s typical days were spent running his business venture, SWAGG INC, before his arrest. He was fully occupied with managing the operations of his company.

As per a website that is no longer available, SWAGG INC aimed at reducing the rate of recidivism by empowering released prisoners through education, employment, and entrepreneurship. Their main focus was on promoting ownership among Returning Citizens.

On Tuesday, Al-Amin presented himself and is set to appear in court on October 19th for a bond hearing.
