In Manhattan, a street was renamed in honor of a dead NYPD cop

On Saturday, a street co-naming ceremony was held to honor an NYPD detective who tragically lost his life last year while responding to a domestic violence call. This co-naming took place on the very same street where the detective grew up, making the tribute all the more meaningful.

Mayor Eric Adams paid tribute to NYPD Detective Jason Rivera, who lost his life in the line of duty, by delivering ceremonial remarks in New York City.

Mayor Adams announced that the street in the community that was close to Jason Rivera’s heart will now be known as “Jason Rivera’s Way”. The mayor acknowledged that Jason lived life on his own terms and the community wanted to honor him in this way.

The intersection of 204th Street and Sherman Avenue in the Inwood area has been officially renamed as “Detective Jason “TATA” Rivera Way.”

At the intersection of Mill Avenue and Avenue U in Mill Basin, Brooklyn, an MTA bus collided with multiple cars, causing them to pile up on top of each other. For the latest updates on the situation, we turn to Johny Fernandez who is reporting live from the scene.
