During 4th of July festivities in a Maine town, a Juvenile male was shot

A juvenile male was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being shot during Fourth of July festivities in Naples, Maine, according to WCVB.

Five bullets were fired at the Naples Causeway shortly after 7 p.m., according to the TV station. According to a county official, the causeway was packed with families eager to witness fireworks, but no one else was hurt.

The young guy was taken to Bridgton Hospital by first responders, but he was later transferred by medical helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland, according to WCVB.

News Center Maine said a bullet impacted a nearby vehicle, and the culprit fled into the woods. According to the Cumberland County Sheriff, the shooting was “an isolated incident.”

Sheriff Kevin Joyce reportedly stated that investigators know who the shooter is and are “hunting down leads” to find him, according to the TV station.

Tuesday night, the Sebago Fire Department posted a message on Facebook that seemed to come from a Cumberland County representative.

“We are asking that citizens be on the lookout for a male who may be armed with a 9 millimetre handgun,”  the message says.

The message said that the culprit was 18 years old, weighed 120 pounds, was 5 feet 8 inches tall, had blue eyes, and had blonde hair. It said that the last time anyone saw the suspect, he was wearing blue jeans, a grey hoodie, and a black hat.

“If you see this suspect, do not approach and call 911 immediately,” the message says.

A little after 9 p.m., the fire department reported that the suspect was still on the large. Still, WCVB said that a spokesperson for Cumberland County said that officials think there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The distance between Naples and Portland is approximately 30 miles.
