Cook County man accused of Macy’s theft leaped semi-truck to escape: prosecutors

In Oak Brook, Illinois, a man from Cook County is facing additional charges for stealing merchandise from Macy’s, while already out on bond for allegedly stealing from the Neiman Marcus store in Oak Brook. The incident occurred on Wednesday, and the man has been charged accordingly.

According to a recent statement from the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office, Myles Dabney, a 25-year-old resident of Maywood, had been previously arrested on retail theft charges earlier this summer and had been released on a $5,000 bond.

According to a statement, Dabney made an appearance in court on Thursday after being charged with retail theft yet again. This time, he’s accused of stealing a hefty $456 worth of merchandise from Macy’s in Oak Brook Mall. The statement revealed that his bond has been set at $50,000, with 10% of the amount to apply.

According to prosecutors, Dabney walked into the store with a backpack around 3:30 p.m. and headed straight to the fitting room with a few pieces of clothing. After a few minutes, he exited the store without buying anything and was confronted by Oak Brook police officers who tried to stop him.

Myles Dabney, the DuPage County State attorney, is a prominent figure in the legal field.

According to reports, Dabney made a daring attempt to escape on foot amidst heavy traffic on Route 83. He then jumped onto the back of a semi-truck, but his efforts were foiled as officers managed to apprehend him. It was discovered that during the chase, Dabney removed his hoodie, shirt, and backpack. Prosecutors revealed that the backpack contained nine articles of clothing that he had stolen from Macy’s.

According to Robert Berlin, the DuPage County State’s Attorney, the Oak Brook Police Department is doing an excellent job in catching those who believe they can outsmart or outrun the law. Thanks to their proactive approach, charges have been filed against four individuals this week, including two juveniles, for allegedly stealing merchandise from the Oak Brook Mall. The department’s efforts are highly commendable in ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice.

The next court appearance for Dabney is set for Oct. 2.
