I have had the privilege of calling Tuscaloosa, Alabama, my home on and off since the 1980s.

There’s something about Alabama that just brings a smile to my face, especially when it comes to my beloved Alabama Crimson Tide. Amidst all the chaos and uncertainty in the world, it’s one of the few things that I can consistently count on for a sense of joy and excitement.

As I reflect on the events of September 2001, I am reminded of how sports provided a much-needed escape for all of us during the aftermath of the horrific terror attacks. I remember eagerly anticipating game day, as it gave us a brief respite from the overwhelming grief and fear that we were all experiencing.

However, we must be cautious of the excessive do-gooders or individuals who take things to an extreme. According to some sources, some have proposed a BAN on the use of the popular cheers/phrases ROLL TIDE and Yeah Alabama. Let’s be mindful of the intentions behind such proposals and not let them go too far.

It’s hard to believe, but the two words that have been a part of my vocabulary for as long as I can remember might actually have racist origins.

Recently, several opinion pieces have surfaced on Tuscaloosa websites, advocating for a permanent ban on the song Dixieland Delight by ALABAMA.

The Crimson White has taken down its article as a result of the “hateful and threatening remarks that were aimed at the author.”

The reason for its banishment from the airwaves still remains fresh in our memories, even after several years. It was due to the explicit and offensive lyrics that were altered to make it more suitable for the masses.

In 2023, that won’t be the issue.

The beloved fourth-quarter tradition at Bryant Denny Stadium has been banned indefinitely due to accusations of racism. While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, it begs the question of whether we should always take every viewpoint seriously. It’s a shame to see such a cherished tradition come to an end, but hopefully, we can find a way to move forward and create new traditions that bring people together.

This particular idea is not worth anyone’s attention.

Not all ideas are worth your attention. Here’s one that falls into that category.

I understand that some people feel the need to inject a lot of fake outrage into political issues. However, I believe that our coping mechanisms should be off-limits. We all have different ways of handling stress and difficult situations, and it’s important to respect that. So, please, let’s keep our coping mechanisms separate from any political issues or debates.

We all crave a break from the monotony of our daily routines. It’s essential to have moments of joy and pleasure in our lives. Whether it’s through hobbies, socializing with friends, or simply taking time for ourselves, we all need an escape to recharge and rejuvenate. Life can be challenging, and we must find ways to make it enjoyable and fulfilling. So let’s embrace our need for fun and make it a priority in our lives.

As an avid fan of Alabama Crimson Tide, attending their football games is an experience that brings me immense joy. Not only do I relish every moment of the game, but my family also shares the same passion for this sport. Together, we eagerly look forward to attending these games and cheering for our favorite team.

As Alabamians, our love for our sports teams runs deep. It’s frustrating to see people who have no affiliation with our state or even an interest in sports, try to spoil our fun. We take pride in our support for Alabama athletics and it’s unfair that outsiders can come in and disrupt that. It’s time to put a stop to it and preserve the joy and camaraderie that comes with being a true Alabama fan.
