Breaking News: A Scottsboro man’s body was discovered in a Jackson County river

JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. – Jackson County officials have identified a body found in a river near the Jackson-Marshall County line more than a week ago.

Sheriff Rocky Harnen stated that his office received a complaint regarding a suspicious-looking package that washed up in a nearby river. Deputies discovered a body inside the bag after pulling it to shore. Moore’s body was believed to have been in the water for three days, according to investigators.

Sheriff Harnen stated that the particular cause of death is not being released at this time, but it is a homicide.

“One homicide is too many for this county,” said Harnen. “They’re all tragic and we certainly hope there is no more.”

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Scottsboro Police Department are collaborating with the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
