According to officials, Michael Allen, a 34-year-old suspect with a history of 15 prior arrests and seven convictions, including assault, was released without bail on supervised release by Judge Lumarie Maldonado Cruz during his arraignment at Manhattan Criminal Court on Friday. Allen also has an open case for allegedly spitting on and kicking a police officer.
According to prosecutors, Allen allegedly assaulted the musician on August 5th as she was leaving the theatre where she is employed. The incident occurred on West 45th Street, and Allen is currently facing charges for the attack.
During the hearing, Prosecutor Madeline Holbrook requested that Allen’s bail be set at $50,000. She pointed out that the suspect has a long history of criminal activity and has had his probation revoked twice. Additionally, Allen has a track record of not appearing in court for prior cases.
According to Holbrook, should Allen be found guilty, he would be subjected to a mandatory prison sentence. Meanwhile, the victim is left with a severely injured wrist, requiring surgery and a lengthy period of physical therapy.
According to Holbrook, the injuries sustained by the victim have the potential to significantly impact their career.
According to authorities, Allen is facing three ongoing cases related to an incident that occurred on November 29th. During the incident, he kicked a police officer and spat in their face while they were attempting to arrest him for selling marijuana illegally on the sidewalk in Times Square.
The upcoming court dates for the individual involve appearing in court on September 18th for the case involving the police officer and on October 19th for the new case.
The Post’s request for comment was not immediately returned by Allen’s lawyer.
