On Saturday, the Price Chopper grocery store located at 4820 N. Oak Trafficway near Vivion Road closed its doors permanently.
Just as the community was mourning the loss of their beloved Price Chopper, a glimmer of hope appeared on the horizon. A brand new Price Chopper has opened its doors just a mile up North Oak, located at 207 N.E. Englewood Road in the Creekwood Commons shopping center. This new addition has brought much-needed relief to the local shoppers who were left without a reliable grocery store in the area.
The recently opened Price Chopper is now home to a variety of exciting additions such as a Starbucks, Harry’s Liquor, and a CBD American Shaman shop. Also, visitors can indulge in the delicious Tippins-branded pie pantry, along with a hot bar, salad bar, deli, bakery, butcher, and even a convenient drive-thru pharmacy.
In January 2022, the space that was once occupied by the Hy-Vee grocery store became available.
In its initial plan, Hy-Vee intended to launch a Wall-to-Wall Wine and Spirits store at the location. However, the situation took a turn in March 2022 when Big Creekwood Commons LLC, the landlord, filed a lawsuit against Hy-Vee. The lawsuit accused Hy-Vee of breaching the lease agreement and neglecting the property, which resulted in a $6 million decrease in the property’s value. In May 2022, both parties reached an agreement to dismiss the case.
