2 accused after Honea Path children found in ‘unsafe, unclean housing conditions’

The Honea Path Police Department has made an announcement that two individuals have been charged following the discovery of two children residing in hazardous living conditions.

According to authorities, Otis Smith and Jessica Hamlin were apprehended on September 21 for various offenses, including engaging in unlawful conduct towards a child.

Officers reported that the suspects were apprehended due to the discovery of two young children, aged five and six, living in conditions that were deemed unsafe and unsanitary.

According to authorities, the two kids were immediately placed under emergency protective custody and were later placed with their relatives until the suspects’ scheduled court appearance.
