The loved ones of an Alabama State University student are searching for answers following the tragic death of the student who was fatally stabbed near the campus.
According to a report by 11 Alive, Tiana Dye, a 21-year-old, tragically passed away on July 14 after being discovered with a stab wound to her chest, just a short distance away from the Alabama State University campus.
The stabbing incident remains under investigation by the police, and as of now, no suspects have been identified.
Reports indicate that Dye had aspirations of becoming a dermatologist and was working towards a degree in biochemistry before his untimely passing.
When Danielle Luckett, Dye’s mother, found out about her daughter’s passing, it was an indescribable moment.
Luckett shared with 11 Alive that he was informed that his daughter had suffered a stab wound and despite the best efforts of medical professionals, they were unable to save her. Recalling the devastating moment, Luckett expressed that it was the worst day of his life and continues to be so.
“She was laying there, probably fighting for her life,” she said, her heart breaking at the memory. “I couldn’t help her. It’s hard to imagine living my life without ever seeing my child again.”
According to Luckett, the security footage captured her daughter placing the knife on the porch and having a conversation over the phone with someone.
According to Luckett, the death of his daughter does not appear to be accidental or an act of self-defense. He strongly believes that it was a deliberate murder, and he insists that something must be done about it.
According to a recent GoFundMe campaign, the late Dye was a dedicated individual who consistently demonstrated her commitment to academic excellence and social justice. Her hard work and perseverance had earned her a spot on the Dean’s list, reflecting her exceptional dedication to her studies. The campaign was started to raise funds for her funeral expenses.
