The 19-year-old was shot inside the car on the Arlington Expressway, police say

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA — According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a 19-year-old juvenile was shot inside a car in the 9200 block of the Arlington Expressway on Monday night.

He was taken to the hospital in the same car, according to authorities. He had a non-life-threatening gunshot wound on his shoulder.

Police initially thought he inadvertently discharged a gun on himself, according to JSO Sgt. Karen Dukes. However, new evidence indicates that the trigger was pulled by someone else.

Dukes stated that the JSO is still determining whether or not the attack was intentional or accidental.

Police are looking for the automobile, which they are treating as the crime scene.

The victim helped the police and was interviewed at the hospital.
