State Troopers report 1 child deceased and 3 others, including a 1-year-old, injured in a highway collision in Alabama

According to Alabama state troopers, a tragic highway accident claimed the life of a 10-year-old child from Mississippi on Sunday.

A juvenile from Belden, Miss., lost their life in a single-vehicle crash that took place around 6:55 a.m. on Sunday.

While riding as a passenger in a 2023 Nissan Versa, a 10-year-old sustained critical injuries after the vehicle veered off the road and hit an embankment.

Unfortunately, the young individual was taken to a nearby medical facility and was declared dead shortly after.

Raymoni L. Gordon, 31, from Tupelo, Mississippi, was injured in the accident and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The Nissan driver was the only person injured in the incident.

Shuntalisha D. Metcalf, a 36-year-old woman from Belden, Mississippi, and a 1-year-old child who were passengers in the Nissan, also sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

The accident took place on Marion County’s Interstate 22, specifically near the 29 mile marker, just one mile to the west of Brilliant.
