Parents fell asleep in a heated car with their toddler for several hours in a neighboring state; stay alert Alabama

The last few days, the weather in Alabama has been very hot. With the state’s high temperatures, parents and guardians must make sure that small children are not left in hot cars. In just one hour, a car can heat up to 95 degrees Fahrenheit or more, and on average, it gets to 116 degrees Fahrenheit.

This year, two parents are in jail because of things they did on their own. Alabama residents can keep reading this post to learn more about what has been said about this case so far.

The HCA says that Kathreen Adams, who is 23 and from Florida, has been charged with aggravated manslaughter and that more charges are pending against her. The father, Christopher McClean, who is 32 and from Florida, also has multiple charges filed against him. These charges include not taking care of a child, having methamphetamine, and having drug tools.

Margie was found unconscious on May 16, 2023. In the news story, it was stated:

”Dispatchers received the call around 3:43 p.m. on May 16 from a “hysterical female.” Records show a deputy arrived on scene within two minutes and was met by an individual carrying an unresponsive child. The deputy immediately began administering CPR on the child until EMS arrived and took over. The child was pronounced deceased by EMS at 3:59 p.m”

At first, the mother told the cops that the child was found in the house, not moving. Police asked EMS to take the child’s temperature after getting proof and statements from people in the area. The temperature of Margie was found to be 107 degrees.

Police also found out that the parents fell asleep in the car after smoking cannabis on May 15, 2023, and didn’t wake up until 3:41 p.m. the next day. When the mother was talking to the cops, she finally said that the child was in the car with them and not at home. The cops gave more information to the news story, which said:

”There is still a gray area of time from when they found the child and when they called 911. We are investigating that part and trying to piece together the puzzle. Adams admitted to leaving the child in the car for around 14 hours.”

Inside the house, cops found CBD gummies, marijuana, smoking pipes for methamphetamine, and other illegal items. Some of the methamphetamine bags were also in the child’s bag, so the mother, father, and kid all had to go to the police station for testing.

The news story gave more details about the tests that were done to help the probe. It then went on to say:

”While it was concluded Margie did not have drugs in her system, investigators report both parents tested positive for methamphetamine, and a hair follicle test from the child also showed positive for methamphetamine.”

The father decided to exercise his human rights. The report concluded by stating:

”McLean has been uncooperative with the investigation. He invoked his Fifth Amendment rights and said he did not wish to speak to us at that time.”
