According to court papers reviewed by PEOPLE, Justin Hopper, aged 33, was convicted on Thursday for causing bodily harm to his twin daughters, resulting in the death of 6-year-old Arianna Battelle. Hopper has been found guilty of injury to a child with the intention of causing physical harm.
The judge sentenced Hopper to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole, along with a $10,000 fine to be paid.
According to KBTX, the jury deliberated on the case for only 15 minutes before reaching a verdict.
According to previous reports, Arianna was discovered deceased in her family’s residence on October 27, 2020. KBTX had stated that Bryan police had responded to a 911 call regarding an unresponsive child.
According to KHOU, Bundren initially informed the authorities that Arianna had tumbled down the stairs and later found her struggling to breathe in bed.
According to KTBX, a seasoned forensic nurse who has worked with countless children claimed that this was the most severe instance of abuse she had ever encountered.
Kimberly Elias, Stephanie Hopper’s mother, expressed her satisfaction with the verdict.
In an interview with KBTX, she expressed her belief that the maximum penalty was necessary to ensure justice was served. “I think justice was done, and I think anything less than the maximum would have made the crime less serious,” she stated.
Freedom will be within Hopper’s reach by 2054.
