Extreme heat poses a threat to car batteries, belts, and hoses

According to experts, the scorching heat can not only cause cosmetic damage to your car, such as faded paint jobs, but it can also lead to more severe issues.

According to Clay Ingram from AAA Alabama, vehicles are not fans of extreme temperatures, whether it’s hot or cold outside. As the temperature drops, car troubles tend to become more common.

According to him, the heat can significantly impact the lifespan of car batteries, causing them to wear down over time and usually lasting only two to three years.

Ingram advises that a significant heatwave can potentially damage your car battery. It is highly recommended to have your battery checked at least once a year, if not twice. The latest battery testers are capable of determining the overall condition of your battery, which can help you avoid any potential issues.

Drivers now have the flexibility to exchange their batteries at their own convenience, avoiding any inconvenience of being stranded on the highway.

The intense heat can also put belts and hoses in danger.

According to Ingram, the deterioration of car parts usually starts from the inside and gradually progresses outward.

“He added that despite looking brand new on the outside, your tires could be on the verge of failing and leave you stranded on the side of the road in no time.”

Hot weather can cause some minor inconveniences as well, and this includes affecting the appearance of cars.

According to Ingram, the damage caused by extreme heat to cars can be severe. “I’ve witnessed dashboards melting, window tinting beginning to bubble and peel up, and paint fading easily,” he noted.
