Crossville woman’s murder leads to charges against Alabama man

Authorities have reported the arrest and murder charge of a woman in Collinsville, Alabama by a man.

On Thursday, James Michael Howard Jr, who is 27 years old, was arrested by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, as per their announcement.

On June 25, authorities received reports of an unresponsive female and promptly responded to a residence on County Road 221. Deputies and Crossville Police officers arrived at the scene and discovered the woman had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. The sheriff’s office provided further details on the incident.

Howard was identified by DeKalb County investigators as the suspect and subsequently arrested.

The individual is being charged with both murder and public intoxication.

Upon the arrival of law enforcement at the scene, Howard was reportedly encountered by neighbors.

Sheriff Nick Welden expressed gratitude towards the officers from Collinsville Police Department, Crossville Police Department, Jacksonville State Center for Applied Forensics, and the vigilant neighbors who reported the incident. He acknowledged their valuable aid and information that led to the swift capture of Howard. He also extended his condolences to the victim’s loved ones, as he called the violent act a tragic and senseless one.
