COALING, Ala. (MocoBizScene) – On Sept. 5, the Coaling Police Department received a complaint regarding a car that had been equipped with police-like lights and a siren.
As per the reports, the individual who filed the complaint was behind the wheel when a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac with police lights and a siren appeared out of nowhere and started flashing its emergency equipment. Assuming it to be a police vehicle, the driver pulled over, but to their surprise, the driver of the Ford Explorer gestured them to move ahead.
After the victim managed to break free from the perpetrator, they immediately contacted a trusted individual to seek help. This person was then responsible for informing the Vance Police Department, who relayed the information to the Coaling PD.
In response to the complaint, law enforcement officials were able to track down the vehicle in question in the Coaling Marathon parking lot. Upon arriving at the scene, officers quickly noticed that the vehicle’s police lights were flashing. At this point, Joshua Dale Salters, a resident of Brookwood, was identified as the driver and questioned by the police.
During a vehicle search, law enforcement discovered various concerning items belonging to Slaters. These included 5 grams of methamphetamine, 12 counterfeit $100 bills, a ski mask, handcuffs, a recovery agent badge, two hand guns, a tactical vest, an Air Soft AR 15 rifle, 9mm ammo and 223 rounds and brass knuckles. Authorities noted that some of these possessions resembled equipment typically used by law enforcement personnel.
According to reports, Slaters faced multiple charges, including possessing a forged instrument, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing brass knuckles, and impersonating a peace officer.
