A woman is dead and a man is in critical condition after a murder-attempt suicide in east Alabama

A woman was killed, and a guy was critically injured in an attempted suicide in east Alabama.

Deputies from the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office were summoned just before noon Monday to North Oak Road in the Tidmore Bend community on a report of a knife-wielding attack.

Deputies arrived to find two victims with extensive knife wounds, according to Sheriff Jonathon Horton.

The female was declared dead on the spot. The male was brought to a hospital in Gadsden with life-threatening injuries.

According to Horton, the male suspect is in critical condition.

Their names are being concealed until their family members are notified.

“All involved parties are located and there is no threat to the community,’’ Horton said.
