TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – On Friday, there was a fundraiser at a hair shop in Tuscaloosa, and the reason behind it all was sadness.
Quita Mack is a hairstylist at Studio 925. Her mother was killed in Birmingham over the weekend, according to Birmingham police. Today, the salon prepared fish and donated funds to assist with funeral expenses.
Sherry Body was the person they were thinking about. According to Birmingham police, the body was a 50-year-old man who was shot and killed last weekend.
Studio 925 prepared two lunches, a fish sandwich and a fish plate, and sold them to the public to raise money for Sherry Body’s burial. Terri Thomas, owner of Studio Nine Two Five, estimates that the Body family requires around $10,000.
They don’t know when the funeral will happen, according to Thomas. Terri Thomas also stated that they are well aware that the fish fry will not raise $10,000 on its own, but they believe that anything will help.
“That’s what it’s all about, you know. Anybody knows I am going to reach out to help anyway I can, so it feels like to be able to do anything for anyone,” said Studio 925 owner Terri Thomas.

“Well, we’ve been knowing her daughter for awhile and when I heard what had happened, we wanted to be there to help in any way we can. We’re hoping people can come out and help us also,” said Studio 925 fundraiser volunteer Rachel Hythe.
Birmingham police have arrested Edward Bell Mules, 51, in connection with the shooting death of Sherry Body.
