A fire breaks out at the Niagara Metals scrapyard

ROYALTON, N.Y.  – Early on Tuesday morning, a scrapyard in Niagara County experienced a fire, leading to the closure of a portion of Route 31 in Royalton.

A fire broke out at a Niagara Metals property located between Royalton Center and Bolton roads in the Town of Royalton, resulting in the closure of the area just after 8:30 a.m. today.

The scene was promptly attended by the fire crews from Middleport, Gasport, and Terry’s Corners.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, however, authorities in Middleport have reported that it started among the dismantled vehicles. As of now, there is no official estimate on the extent of the damage, but it seems that the fire was contained in the junk vehicles on the premises.
