27-year-old Lockport motorcyclist dead after early morning Transit Road crash

In the early hours of this morning, a 27-year-old Lockport man was killed in an accident when his motorcycle swerved off Transit Road in Amherst and hit a tree.

The horrible accident took place close to the intersection where Tonawanda Creek Road and Millersport Highway meet.

Traffic was momentarily diverted from the southbound lanes while the highways were closed to traffic, however, they were reopened by 8:15 am.

Investigators determined that the motorcyclist, whose identity was withheld, was traveling southbound on Transit when he left the roadway and struck a tree.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Police are asking anyone who may have video footage of the area or the incident to call them at 716-689-1311.
