At approximately 4:30 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to a residence in Crown Heights, according to a New York City Fire Department spokesperson.

“We discovered a three-story structure with heavy fire on three floors,” deputy commander of fire operations John Esposito stated at a news conference.

“It was an extremely hazardous and difficult fire operation,” Esposito stated.

He stated that the fire required the assistance of 138 first responders and was “time-consuming” to extinguish. The fire department reported that approximately two hours after the initial contact was received, the blaze was contained. BAt present, the fire’s cause remains unknown.
