Victorrus Felder, a corrections officer, has announced his bid for mayor of Montgomery

Victorrus Felder is a former corrections officer who says he wants to bring his tough-on-crime attitude to the mayor’s office.

Felder, who is 40 years old, is running for mayor. He said that he thinks Montgomery is in a state of emergency.

“I feel as though we can be better. You’re not safe anywhere you go,” Felder said. “It was limited to a certain demographic at one point, but now no matter where you go it seems like you’re at risk of being involved in a shooting, seeing a shooting, having to run away from a shooting.”

Felder wants to work with many law enforcement groups to fight crime. He also wants to put cams in places with a lot of crime and use technology that can pinpoint where a shooting happened.

Felder also wants police officers to be more involved in the surrounding area, and he wants to hire more officers. Felder wants to hire more police cops by giving them more money.

Felder says that Mayor Steven Reed’s office is to blame for the crime.

“We must remove the leadership we have in place now to make things better. If we don’t we’re going to be in an even worse condition,” Felder said.

Felder has been working as a corrections guard for 15 years. He’s got a wife and four kids. He ran for mayor before, in 2019, and only got 2% of the vote.
