On November 2nd, Daphney Jackson, age 25, received a sentence of 50 years in prison for her involvement in the murder of a Cat’s Meow bartender in March 2022.
Jackson was convicted of manslaughter and aggravated assault with a firearm in August.
According to detectives, a fight broke out on Bourbon Street and he fired shots into the crowd. Unfortunately, one of the stray bullets hit bartender Spencer Hudson in the chest, leading to his untimely death in March of 2022.
During the shooting incident, a bullet hit Ambrosia Hayes, a young tourist who was 21 years old at the time. Although she survived her injuries, the incident left a lasting impact on her. During Jackson’s sentencing, Hayes delivered an impact statement in which she expressed her disappointment and disillusionment with New Orleans, a city she had once considered “magical.”
According to Hayes, she continues to experience recurring nightmares about being shot even after all this time.
