Monday evening, police are investigating a shooting in southeast Washington, D.C. that left one man wounded and another deceased.
The Metropolitan Police Department received a dispatch at 9:04 p.m. regarding a shooting in the 3500 block of MLK Jr. Avenue Southeast. Officers on the site discovered one man with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment, and his survival is anticipated.
A second victim of the shooting was discovered receiving treatment for firearm wounds at a hospital. He succumbed to his injuries and was later identified as Melvin Dock Jr., age 23, of Southwest, D.C.
The police have not disclosed what led up to the shooting or what occurred prior. Investigation into the incident is ongoing and active.
