Dylan Choe, a 24-year-old resident of New York City, pleaded guilty to distributing obscene material to minors in an attempt to set up a meeting with a minor, according to Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II.
Choe initiated an online conversation with an undercover agent from the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office who posed as a thirteen-year-old girl from the same county at the beginning of 2023. Choe engaged in explicit conversation before arranging a rendezvous at a hotel in Rockland County, unaware of the investigator’s true identity.
On January 19, 2023, when Choe arrived at the prearranged hotel in Rockland, he was apprehended and charged with distributing pornographic materials to juveniles.
Tom Walsh, the district attorney, stated that his office is steadfastly committed to protecting the innocence of the community’s juveniles. This case serves as a stern reminder that those with malice toward juveniles will be vigorously pursued and punished accordingly.
Since 2022, the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office has led an ongoing effort to combat cybercrime, which this conviction is a part of.
