Police Arrest Teen for Killing Relative in Prince George’s County

In Capitol Heights, Maryland, the Homicide Unit of the Prince George’s County Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a domestic-related shooting that resulted in the death of Jammi Cooper, a 36-year-old resident of Washington, DC. The suspect in question is a 17-year-old male also from Washington, DC, who happens to be a family member of the victim. The police have charged the suspect as an adult for this heinous crime.

At around 10:50 pm on October 5, 2023, law enforcement officers were dispatched to the 4100 block of Southern Avenue in the unincorporated area of Capitol Heights in response to an incident. The victim was found outside with gunshot wounds and unfortunately passed away a few hours later at a medical facility.

According to initial investigations, it has been found that the tragic shooting incident was a result of a disagreement between the perpetrator and the victim. The suspect has been apprehended in Washington, DC, and is awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County. The suspect has been charged with first and second degree murder, along with other related charges.
