Tragedy struck a Madison apartment complex on Tuesday when a 15-year-old girl lost her life and three other teenagers were injured in a shooting incident. The incident has left the community in shock and mourning for the young life lost. Details about the shooting are still emerging, and authorities are investigating the incident to determine what led to the tragedy. Around 8:30 p.m., the incident took place at the Harmony at Grandview Commons Apartment, situated near Milwaukee Street and Milky Way.
Upon arriving at the location, the officers immediately initiated life-saving measures on a 15-year-old girl who had sustained gunshot wounds. Despite their efforts, the girl passed away later on while at the hospital. Additionally, there were three other individuals who were also affected by the incident, which included a 14-year-old girl and two 14-year-old boys who had sustained injuries due to gunshots.
As per reports from our partners at WISC, a surveillance footage revealed that a driver of a Lexus SUV pulled up and four individuals stepped out of the vehicle. These people started shooting without any regard for their surroundings. Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes has described this act as a “cowardly act of violence” where the suspects fired bullets randomly, putting anyone in the vicinity at risk.
According to WISC, Chief Barnes condemned the shooting as a “cowardly act of violence.” It was reported that one of the suspects fired indiscriminately, resulting in the tragic death of a teenage girl. The article also mentions that there was a fifth person who remained in the vehicle during the shooting.
It is suspected that the teenagers who were injured were not specifically singled out as targets.
According to WISC, the unfortunate victim of the shooting incident has been identified as Kyesha Miller, aged 15.
