According to court records, the individual who is being charged with the murder of a man inside a Bombshells Restaurant and Bar in east Harris County was released on bond at the time of the shooting.
During a court appearance on Tuesday, it was revealed by prosecutors that Pedro Zavala, who is 23 years old, had a bond condition for his previous charges which restricted him to a curfew from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Shockingly, the shooting took place during the time that he was not allowed to be out.
The individual in question has been charged with murder in connection with the unfortunate demise of Gabriel Aguirre, who was 24 years old at the time of his passing. Additionally, the accused has been charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon, and given his criminal history, this charge is considered a felony. The magistrate judge has set the bond for the new charges at a total of $600,000.
According to authorities, deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to a distress call at the Bombshells Restaurant and Bar located at 13732 I-10 East Freeway at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Monday.
According to officials, a verbal altercation between two men led to the 23-year-old, who was previously released on bond, pulling out a handgun and shooting the other man multiple times. The suspect is currently facing charges of murder.
According to investigators, the fatal shooting occurred as a result of a verbal altercation that took place inside the bar.
According to authorities, the suspect fled the scene immediately after the shooting. However, in the early hours of Tuesday morning, while investigators were still present at the bar, Zavala contacted the sheriff’s office and expressed his willingness to surrender. The authorities subsequently arrested him at a nearby gas station, around a mile and a half away from the Bombshells.
According to court documents, Zavala was previously released on bond and was facing charges of harassment and resisting arrest following an altercation last month. In that incident, it is alleged that he threatened to shoot a dog belonging to a woman.
During the court hearing, the prosecutor stated that the defendant was out past curfew and was found at a bar. Given their prior history, the prosecutor argued that the defendant posed a potential threat to public safety, which is why the bond was set at such a high amount.
During the court proceedings, it came to light that Zavala is currently on parole for an aggravated robbery charge. This parole is set to continue until the following year.
According to officials, he has a child residing in Houston and has been unable to work due to an injury.
The court date for Zavala has been set for Wednesday.
