Missouri’s Miss to Vie in Miss USA Pageant This Friday

As the Miss USA Pageant is quickly approaching on Friday, Sept. 29th, all eyes are on Miss Missouri, and Kansas City is no exception.

In May, Autumn Black was crowned as the Miss Missouri 2023 winner, and she is now preparing to compete for the national title in Reno, Nevada. You can follow her journey on her Instagram profile, @missmousa.

Autumn Black expressed her disbelief, “Honestly, it still feels so surreal.”

Filled with excitement, she used the word when KSHB 41 interviewed her after winning the Miss Missouri title. As reported on their website, KSHB 41 was the first to speak with her.

Ever since that moment, she has been on the move, traveling throughout the state, attending events, and preparing for tonight’s big occasion. All the while, she has been dealing with some recent news alongside her loved ones.

Autumn Black shared that her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer right after their conversation. She bravely fought and survived the disease twice, making her a true warrior. The diagnosis has altered the course of Autumn’s reign and their entire family’s life. It’s been a challenging journey, but they continue to move forward with strength and resilience.

Autumn Black expressed that her perspective has been altered, and she is grateful that her parents will be accompanying her when she performs on stage.

Autumn Black expressed her gratitude towards those who have worked hard and made sacrifices in her life, acknowledging that she is who she is today because of them.

Autumn Black had an incredible opportunity last week as she got to throw the first pitch at the Royals game. Her dad was present as the catcher, making it a memorable and special moment for her.

Autumn Black’s parents, Craig and Sage Black, express immense pride in their daughter and her achievements.

Autumn’s father, Craig Black, expressed his pride and admiration for his daughter, describing her as his “babygirl.” Despite her young age, he is inspired by her accomplishments, noting that she has always had big goals and has been determined to achieve them. Craig is in awe of Autumn’s drive and dedication to her aspirations, acknowledging that she has already achieved a lot. He expressed his excitement for her recent accomplishment, stating that he knew it was something she had worked hard for and was fully prepared to achieve.

Autumn’s mother, Sage Black, shared her overwhelming emotions about her daughter’s journey in the Miss USA process. “I’m excited, happy, elated – everything, all of the above,” she exclaimed. Sage expressed her pride in Autumn and acknowledged all the hard work she has put in. “It’s been a really exciting journey, and I’m glad that we’re here with her to witness this amazing experience,” she added.

The CW is all set to broadcast Miss USA at 7 p.m. CT.
