Medina Firefighters respond to an apartment fire

MEDINA, N.Y. — Early on Sunday, fire crews in Medina were called to a fire in an apartment.

There was smoke in the building at 238 West Center Street, so firefighters went there. When the firemen got there, they found a fire in a first-floor apartment that was empty.

Firefighters helped people in other flats get out of the building.

Officials say that the fire was limited to one room in the apartment, but smoke damage was found in every room. The fire didn’t hurt the other three apartments, but there was smoke inside that firemen had to clear out.

One of the people who lived there was taken to Medina Memorial Hospital for treatment and was later let go. No firefighters were injured.

The probe is being done by the Orleans County Emergency Management Office. At this point, no reason has been found.

The fire departments in Ridgeway and Albion were also asked to help.
