Authorities in New York City reported the discovery of an “apparent human body part” in a recycling bin on Wednesday evening. The discovery was made in Queens, according to a report by WPIX news.
On Wednesday evening at approximately 6:30 p.m., a cleaner working at a Queens branch of TD Bank made a startling discovery. Though the specifics of what was found were not disclosed by the NYPD, sources from WPIX, a Nexstar affiliate, believed it to be either a foot or a portion of a leg.
The NYPD shared a statement with Nexstar that stated, “An apparent human body part was observed inside of a recycling bin upon arrival of the officers.” The investigation is still ongoing, and the cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner.
According to Amir Badawi, a resident of the neighborhood, he suspects that the decaying “body” has been present for around a week. This conclusion was drawn from a foul smell that was reportedly detected by one of his acquaintances who had approached the blue bin.
Badawi was taken aback by what appeared to be a discovery. He couldn’t believe his eyes.
At present, the NYPD hasn’t revealed any information regarding the identification of the remains as of Thursday morning.
The NYPD is urging anyone who possesses information that could be relevant to the investigation to come forward and share their tips. Your contributions could prove to be crucial in solving the case, so don’t hesitate to reach out to the authorities.
