Federal prosecutors seek a life sentence for subway gunman Frank James

NJ Burkett reports that Frank James is facing a severe situation, as he doesn’t have a plea agreement and the prosecutors are pushing for a lengthy prison sentence.

James has requested to be sentenced no more than 18 years in prison and his sentencing is set for September 28th.

According to the sentencing memo written by defense attorney Mia Eisner-Grynberg, Mr. James is not an evil person. Instead, she suggests that he is suffering from an untreated and severe mental illness. It is clear that his actions were a result of his illness and not an indication of his true character. This perspective sheds light on the need for more support and resources for individuals struggling with mental health issues.

As soon as everyone was crammed together at the opposite end of the train, James started shooting his semi-automatic Glock 17 handgun at his targets.

“When the defendant started shooting, the train was between stations and then temporarily stalled, leaving victims trapped, with nowhere to run or hide,” prosecutors said. “It was only because the defendant’s gun eventually jammed that the defendant stopped shooting, despite having two additional fully-loaded extended magazines capable of firing an additional 36 bullets.”

Prosecutors submitted a photograph of the gunfire’s course as well as the blood-splattered train car after passengers were evacuated.
