Authorities tell PIX11 News that three male students were stabbed outside Brownsville Academy High School in Brooklyn on Tuesday.
According to police, one victim was stabbed in the body, another in the chest, and a third in the head.
According to accounts, one person was taken into police custody.
“Any mother would be terrified about that.” “How could you not?” Anisa Benjamin, who lives near the school, agreed.
Because of days like this, Anisa Benjamin is considering moving and won’t even let her children play outside.
“How can I be safe enough to bring my kids outside? What if my kids go to the park here or go to the park there and something like this happens?” Benjamin said.
According to a school safety agents union spokeswoman, the violence began with a dispute on the building’s perimeter. The cause of the fight was not immediately evident.
At the same address is another school, Aspirations Diploma Plus High School.
One neighbor, apparently horrified by the violence, stated that it does not represent Brownsville as a whole.
“We live in this community. We care about this community. And then when you have people that come to this community and think that everybody’s like this, we’re not,” said Kricket Nimmons.
Before 911, the proprietor of a Bronx day care contacted her husband: Feds PIX11 News requested a statement from the Department of Education, which responded:
Violence has absolutely no place in our communities. NYPD, EMS, school staff and NYPD school safety agents immediately responded to this incident, which occurred off school property during dismissal. We are providing the necessary follow-up supports to this school community, including emotional and mental health supports for any student who needs it.
